Examples of Work
Primary responsibilities include providing advice and counsel to management and programs as part of Legal Services’ Operations Team to include representing DHHS in employment matters, developing responses to tort/contract/miscellaneous claims made against DHHS, collecting debt on behalf of DHHS, procurement and contracting, discovery, and public records responses and retention.

REQUIREMENTS: Three years of experience as an attorney practicing law and providing legal services such as preparing and trying cases, advising clients, and/or interpreting laws or administrative policies.
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS: In accordance with Section 7-101, Nebraska Revised, Reissued Statutes of l943, incumbentsin this class must be admitted to the Nebraska Bar.
PREFERRED: Significant legal experience with employment and labor relations; litigation experience; experience in crisis management; and social services agency oversight.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent legal research and communication skills. Ability to interpret and communicate the legal effect of transactional documents; analyze the application of relevant law to specific facts; recognize the impact of developing legislation and case law on the agency and its programs; and interpret complex federal and state constitutional, statutory and regulatory law.
