Summary
The Senior Litigation Attorney will be responsible for a large EOIR, BIA, Circuit Court and U.S. District Court caseload. Additionally, the lawyer filling this role will be involved in challenging policies, practices and cases that undermine the rights of non-citizens facing removal from the United States. The Senior Litigation Attorney will be expected to identify opportunities to engage in litigation, to develop relationships with individuals, firms and organizations coordinating litigation, and to develop content for submissions in cases in trial and at the appellate level. This position will also involve mentoring and developing more junior associates.
What You’ll Do
Identify opportunities to engage in litigation that impacts the best interests of non-citizens facing removal from the U.S. before the EOIR, the BIA, the appellate courts, and the U.S. District Courts
Manage a diverse caseload efficiently and effectively
Build and maintain trusting client relationships for excellent client service
Develop strategies and legal arguments
Conduct legal research, speak with impacted individuals and other experts, draft declarations, testimony or legal briefs
Collaborate with colleagues on strategy, theory, and communications
Provide trainings and mentoring for GES legal service team members
Perform consultations with potential clients
Timely and accurately enter daily time into the firm’s timekeeping and invoicing software program.
Develop and maintain competency in the core aspects of law firm accounting to be able to effectively monitor client finances, and meaningfully discuss finances with clients
Commit to meeting certain production, collections, and business development metrics on a weekly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Work Environment
The Senior Litigation Attorney will have opportunities to work in-office, and from home. Because GES is located in Arizona, the lawyer filling this position must, at times, travel to ICE detention centers in Eloy, Arizona and Florence, Arizona. However, with offices in both the Tucson and Phoenix areas, the attorney may be located in, and work out of, either office.

What You’ll Bring
Juris doctor degree and active licensure in good standing in at least one state, and membership in at least one federal district court
No less than five years of substantial immigration litigation experience
Prior EOIR, BIA, Circuit Court, and federal court litigation experience
Excellent writing and editing skills
