Job Description:
Garcia & Garcia Attorneys at Law, PLLC an immigration law and criminal defense firm with offices in Austin, San Antonio, McAllen, and Waco, seeks 2 new full-time immigration attorneys to represent our primarily Spanish-Speaking clientele in all immigration matters in our San Antonio and Austin Office. An understanding of the basics of immigration law is preferred, but our experienced team of attorneys is willing to teach immigration law to the right candidate. The position requires excellent writing and legal research skills, attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure, and the ability to establish rapport with judges, opposing counsel, ICE, and USCIS.
Position Duties and Competencies:
The immigration attorney will primarily manage immigration cases, including removal defense, family-based immigration, consular processing, U-Visa and VAWA applications, and other immigration benefits. Secondary duties may include federal court or appellate litigation and post conviction relief.
Preferred Qualifications include:
- Interest in litigation and trial court
- Admission to practice law in Texas and at least one year of legal experience
- Exceptional legal research and writing skills
- Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask and work independently, and attention to detail
- Ability to work with and engage diverse communities
- Commitment to immigrant rights, a health district of arbitrary government, and a willingness to advocate and litigate creatively on behalf of clients
- Spoken and written Spanish language fluency
