O'Neill, Heinrich, Damkroger, Bergmeyer & Shultz, P.C., L.L.O. is a mid-sized law firm serving private and public sector clients in Nebraska, the Midwest and across the country on a wide variety of legal matters. Our office is located in downtown Lincoln, Nebraska and we are seeking an experienced litigation and employment attorney to join our practice. A proven track record of handling all aspects of litigation and administrative law proceedings is required. This position also requires excellent client counseling and organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines. A further outline of job duties, responsibilities and qualifications are set forth below:
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate and oversee all civil litigation and administrative law matters involving business contracts, real estate licensing, employment, construction, trademark, and personal injury
- Proactively manage civil litigation and administrative cases from beginning to completion
- Counsel business clients on employment related matters, including compliance with federal and state employment, labor and benefits laws, and employment policies
- Advise and participate with internal non-litigation attorneys and clients on litigation strategy and tactics
- Advise business clients on risk management and alternative dispute resolution processes
- Represent clients in hearings, depositions, motion practice up to and including civil trials
- Supervise paralegals and staff working on projects
- Opportunities to be involved within internal firm management to provide recommendations for continuous improvement
Qualifications/Education/Experience:
- Five or more years’ experience being the primary contact for and handling civil litigation cases
- Experience with depositions, court hearings, and brief writing
- Active member of the Nebraska State Bar, or ability to waive in
- Excellent client counseling and organizational skills, high ethical standards, self-motivated
- Strong writing, research and communications skills and proven track record of accomplishments
- Ability to develop client relationships and collaborate with clients to develop strategies
- Capability to work on multiple tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining proficiency
