Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Career Development, the Assistant Director of Career Development, Public Sector, is responsible for employment counseling and career education of law students and alumni. Monitors, develops, and coordinates employment opportunities for students and alumni in public interest organizations, foundations, and offices across the country. Develops and delivers educational programming for students on general job search strategies, job search resources, and application materials, as well as programming on post-graduate fellowship programs, and application processes for positions in the public sector, broadly (including criminal law and government positions). Builds relationships with the public sector legal employment community. Teaches, advises, and counsels law students in their career development and all phases of the job search process. Develops career planning and placement brochures and handouts. Reviews and provides feedback on student and alumni application materials, including resumes and cover letters. Contributes to overall office goals, maintains up to date records on student employment, and maintains steady communication with the Assistant Dean. Extends all facets of career services to assist recent alumni. Develops and publicizes job opportunities for students and alumni with a particular emphasis on public interest employment.
